From 100 to zero - that's what happened to our tennis-crazy kids when all tennis activities were stopped in mid-March due to Corona. So what can you do to keep the kids happy? After a short search on the Internet it was clear: the tennis family urgently needs a hit partner . The mobile ball wall was ordered and delivered to us in no time.

3-2-1 - that's how quickly the build-up goes

The assembly took place in no time - no problem thanks to the instructions and the small number of individual parts. There should only be someone who is a little taller to hang the stretched fabric. Yes, and then it started straight away on the lawn. The first blows from our youngest were a bit cautious. But after he noticed that his hit partner really had a good “resonance” even to faster hits, he stepped on the gas.

The hit partner in everyday testing - now it gets very concrete

Basically, you can play with your hit partner on any surface : as long as you hit the ball immediately after bouncing off the board. But if you want to let the ball bounce on the ground afterwards - for example if you are playing with two people and need a little more time between hits - a flat surface, ideally asphalt, is ideal.

BASIC STRIKES : the hit partner is simply IDEAL for forehand and backhand in all stroke variations.

If you play alone, you can train your stroke rhythm perfectly, regardless of drive, spin or slice. Our son always “plugged in” his Airpods and then we started. Technical details can also be improved by regularly bouncing the ball.
VOLLEYS : To be honest, we had a bit of a hard time with volleys - regardless of the tennis family.

We were never able to play the volleys anywhere near as well as, for example, against the house wall.
SERVE : for more experienced players it is definitely possible to serve against your hitting partner and then even continue playing straight afterwards.

You just have to find out the “correct” distance between the hit partner and the server. In the beginning, one or two balls flew at high speed to the neighbor, which was missed by the hit partner. But we got it under control pretty quickly and no windows were broken...
FOOTWORK : The hit partner is ideal for this and makes some “shadowing training” much more attractive.

Especially when you are training as a couple, cones can be used in all possible variations so that the legs are trained perfectly and can then be hit.
FUN FACTOR : I would rate it as very high.

We had many more fun “Mäxle” rounds and various trick shots were also practiced.
EVERYDAY SUITABILITY : an absolute plus about the Hitpartner is its small space requirement . It can even be used in the garage. What's also great and good for the neighbors' nerves: training on the hit partner is really very quiet , absolutely no comparison with a normal (ball) wall or a garage door.
However, it must be borne in mind that the hit partner itself is not exactly small and you should have appropriate space for it. Also important to know: due to the large tension fabric, the hit partner is quite susceptible to wind - both when playing and of course when he has a "break". Here the hit partner should definitely be fixed to the ground so that he does not tip over due to the wind.

A steep price, but absolutely worth it

Even though the Hitpartner isn't exactly a bargain at 399 euros, I would recommend the mobile ball wall to anyone who would like to do an extra training session at home or just want to hit a round of balls alone or with friends or family members.

For clubs there is the stainless steel version for 799 euros, which can easily be left outside permanently and is an alternative to building a large concrete ball wall.
