Briefly introduce yourself and your role at Kärnten Werbe

My name is Markus Polessnig. I have been working for Kärnten Werbe for over 8 years. There I am responsible for project management in the areas of golf and tennis.

Are you a native of Carinthia?

Yes, I was born and grew up in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee.

What do you think is “typical” for a Carinthian?

Southern serenity and hospitality. Being approachable and open are also qualities that describe us well.

What “active tips” are there away from the tennis court? What must a TennisTraveller “experience” in Carinthia?

There are countless nature active experiences in Carinthia. Since many tennis players are also good at using a golf club, a round on one of our 12 golf courses would be recommended. For hiking enthusiasts, the Alpe-Adria Trail is a must; if you prefer to go on a trip on two wheels, you can't miss the Drauradweg or the Carinthia Lake Loop. However, one thing that should never be missing from any activity is a jump into one of our 200 bathing lakes.

Tell us 2-3 typical Carinthian delicacies that you should definitely try on a tennis holiday in Carinthia

What I particularly appreciate in Carinthia is the regionality that is practiced in the kitchens of our cooks. My absolute favorite dish is the Carinthian cheese noodles, but I also can't resist a crispy fried lake trout. Then a fluffy Carinthian Reindling with your coffee and the day is saved. Where exactly is your absolute favorite place in Carinthia and why do you think it is so beautiful there?

Take a boat out to one of the many lakes, enjoy the silence and unwind. But the fantastic view from the Pyramidenkogel, which is also the highest wooden observation tower in the world, also gives you a great feeling. Spectacular is not only the view over the entire Wörthersee but also of the surrounding mountains.
