It's not just us amateurs who love playing tennis right by the sea. The tennis pros feel the same way! Even though the focus is of course on the tennis courts, during training and at the next match, the tennis professionals really enjoy everything that goes around it. At the Makarska Open 2023 , THE WTA 125 tournament in Croatia from June 5th - 11th, 2023, the professional women can look forward to a beautiful tournament location. The women's tournament, which will be held on the Croatian island of Brac until 2021, took place for the first time last year in Makarska on one of the most beautiful Croatian coastal stretches . And according to tournament director Feliks Lukas from Lukas Sports , it should stay there in the future. We will briefly introduce you to the tournament and the wonderful holiday options surrounding it. And maybe one or the other of you would like to spend a nice tennis and tournament holiday there at short notice? Or to remember the holiday destination for a later tennis holiday!
In 1991, tournament director Feliks Lukas managed to bring the WTA tournament license from the USA back to Croatia. Afterwards, the women's tournament took place every year in Bol on the Brac, which is the largest women's tournament of this category in southeastern Europe. Despite all the tradition, the tournament moved to the mainland in 2022. But a more wonderful tournament location was found in Makarska. Makarska is known for its beautiful beaches and mild temperatures. Makarska Tennis Center, located directly by the sea with eight beautifully situated clay courts, is simply perfect for such a large tournament. In addition to the tennis matches, the facility offers plenty of space for a variety of side events and gastronomic offerings. Here, as a spectator, you can spend the whole day in the shade of the trees and enjoy the tennis matches and the atmosphere.
What we think is particularly nice: all ticket proceeds this year will be donated to Mucrum . The facility takes care of children with disabilities and will be able to use the entrance fees to finance, among other things, a therapy dog, which will certainly be a great help and, above all, a great joy for the kids! Sport can do good in many ways!

As we all know, the tennis world is small - that's nice and a good thing. So it's not surprising that one of our camp organizers will be on site at the tournament. Sascha Müller from AS Tennis GmbH is usually in Wallmerod in Rhineland-Palatinate or at tennis camps in Austria or Italy. As in previous years, he is an exhibitor at the Makarska Open and will be there for the entire tournament week.

Tournament visitors can try out Tennis ESports live on site. “That excites absolutely everyone,” says Sascha, because in tennis ESports you have to actively do something yourself, i.e. carry out the hitting movement like “in real life”. We will definitely take a look at it ourselves and report on it!
