Today we want to introduce you to a new tennis destination: Bulgaria.
There are a number of hotels on the fine sandy Black Sea coast that invite you to a tennis holiday - including the sea right on your doorstep. The Albena region in particular offers a wide range of tennis options. With 19 ITF-certified red clay courts, Albena offers a perfect opportunity to prepare for the tennis season under the Bulgarian sun.
But of course the region is also a great travel destination for summer and autumn - the Mediterranean climate gives tennis holidaymakers the best conditions to start or extend the tennis season early, especially in spring and autumn.
The wonderful beaches offer the best opportunities for relaxation during the season. And of course there are a variety of water sports activities available to the TennisTraveller . Overall, the range of sports available around Albena is huge and well developed. Golfers also get their money's worth here in this region with various golf courses. An extensive spa and wellness offering with its own medical center leaves nothing to be desired.
Bulgaria is not only a very diverse travel destination around Albena: from the Black Sea to the Balkan Mountains with numerous caves and gorges that are ideal for trekking or the famous Bansko ski resort. The country also has a lot to offer historically and culturally. Sofia, as the state capital, has become a lively, modern city.
Overall, tourism in Bulgaria is on the rise - the number of visitors has been increasing in recent years - visitors from the EU in particular like to come to Bulgaria. There are also more and more sports and tennis tourists among the tourists.
Overall, the sport of tennis is becoming increasingly popular in Bulgaria: since Grigor Dimitrov became one of the best tennis players in the world, interest among the population has also increased. As a result, there are again several international professional tournaments in Bulgaria. In September there will also be an international ITF senior tournament for all players aged 35 and over . This tournament is also held in Albena on the Black Sea.
It's not just the tournament scene that's growing: the training and promotion of tennis talent is also being promoted in several tennis academies, including that of former top 10 player Magdalena Maleeva.
All in all, Bulgaria is a tennis travel destination that I'm sure many of you haven't had on your "tennis travel radar" yet. In any case, it's worth taking a look at the increasingly numerous hotel and camp offers, which can still score points with a very good price-performance ratio .
And of course we already have one or two tennis hotels and tennis camps on our TennisTraveller - take a look:
