Off to the Ruhr area - that was our tennis family's plan. A week of tournament travel in and around Mülheim, visit to the PMTR Tennis Academy , the ATP Challenger tournament in Meerbusch , participation in the tournament with our cooperation partner ie tennis management and a stay at the TennisTraveller Hotel Kocks am mühlenberg . So in mid-August we drove halfway through Germany with a fully packed car and three motivated tennis kids.
In Mülheim, Ms. Lang was already waiting for us at the Hotel Kocks with her inimitably friendly manner. The hotel, which appears quite inconspicuous from the outside, has everything a TennisTraveller needs and wants inside. Wonderfully large rooms, wonderfully comfortable beds, ultra-modern bathrooms. Everything is sparkling clean and extremely well maintained.
The breakfast was simply amazing every day: fresh rolls, cakes, pancakes, muesli, fresh fruit and so on... There were also "breakfast lunch bags" on the table in which you could pack some of the day's food. In the evening we parents enjoyed a cozy nightcap at the bar with Mülheim beer specialties or relaxed in the small but very nice sauna area.
The location of the hotel in the second row on the Ruhr is ideal: you are within walking distance of Mülheim city center with its really beautiful waterfront promenade and cozy restaurants. Or you can walk or jog along the Ruhr. And yet you have peace and quiet! An ideal hotel for a tournament trip. What is particularly special is the warmth of the entire team - simply incredibly nice!
The Hotel Kocks is not only an ideal location for a tournament trip in the Ruhr area, but also becomes a real TennisTraveller Uwe Schumann's PMTR Tennis Academy .
Since our daughter had no play on the first day of the tournament, I quickly organized training at PMTR for the first day. Through the summer base , which is offered daily during the NRW summer holidays, tournament players can simply come along on a non-playing day and train with other tournament players under the guidance of one or more trainers. There is also athletic training. A great thing in my opinion.
In general, I was really impressed by the concept and what PMTR has to offer: everything here is approached and lived in an extremely professional manner. During the tournaments there was tournament support for PMTR players, where the kids created their match plan in the morning, discussed it with the coaches and then drove to the tournament together. The PMTR kids were looked after by the trainers on site - the orange jackets and shirts were present everywhere!
tennis camps during all NRW holidays , so that an ideal tennis camp can be found for all levels and age groups.
During our tournament week, the Tennis Open Stadtwerke Meerbusch place in Meerbusch. Since we were tournament partners of the ATP Challenger tournament, we naturally didn't miss the opportunity to accept
ATP Business Night Despite the cool weather, we still enjoyed a bit of tournament tennis as well as the discussions and conversations during the evening event - there was a wonderful atmosphere in the rental area with the white tents of the exhibitors and restaurateurs.
During the day, our kids played in the 1st Mülheim tennis tournament circuit, which allows three tournaments in new days, namely the second tournament in Raadt and the third tournament at the KHTC Mülheim, the "home base" of the PMTR Tennis Academy. Both tournaments were well organized and there was a really nice, relaxed tournament atmosphere.
When the father and daughter play in a senior and women's tournament at the same time - it's a lot of fun. This is what happened in the second half of our Mülheim week at the PSV Mülheim Outdoor Open 2. Diana Hömke, owner of dh tennis management , LK tournament organizer and TennisTraveller cooperation partner, welcomed the two of them at the tournament in the TVN performance center in Essen. A meeting that was very nice - we would be happy to repeat it at any time! And here too, the tournament organization was perfect!
The days in Mülheim were really intense and full, so unfortunately we weren't able to see or see anything culturally. The Ruhr area has so much to offer! But with three kids playing tournaments, the day was just planned. All in all, we had a wonderful week, thanks to the great hotel stay and the warmth we received everywhere.
For that we say THANK YOU again and hope that we will travel to the “Ruhrpott” again next summer at the latest!
