For the very first time, we as TennisTraveller family didn't have to go to the sea on our summer vacation. We chose the Tennis Hotel Brennseehof in Feld am See in Carinthia as our vacation destination and had a great week there with an ideal mix of relaxation and sports activities was only slightly dampened by the bad weather. So after a short cultural trip in Vienna, we all arrived at Brennsee very excited and were initially impressed by the great location of the hotel. The Brennseehof is only separated by a spacious lawn directly on the small Brennsee. The tennis courts and the lake wellness pavilion with various pools and outdoor saunas are also located in front of the hotel.
The five of us had two “tennis fan” double rooms – a parents’ room and a “children’s room” with an extra bed. The rooms were quite small at 20 square meters, both the sleeping area and the bathroom. With our tennis bags and the rest of the sports equipment, it was very cozy - we would have liked a little more space (this is available in other, more expensive room categories). The furnishings were functional and in order, not exactly modern, but rather "sophisticated". The balcony was great, from which we had a wonderful view of the lake.
The furnishings throughout the hotel are comfortable, but with the exception of the recently built reception area and the children's hall, they are not really modern. The entire staff was incredibly nice and always had a smile on their faces. The atmosphere among the guests was also very casual, many were regular guests - you can just tell that there are a lot of athletes in the hotel.
Speaking of sport – that is an absolute highlight at the Brennseehof Tennis Hotel . The daily sports program is really big and offers a lot for hiking, biking, water sports and tennis fans. In collaboration with the Krainer Sports School, all kinds of courses are offered.
the tennis courses were with a lot of passion . However, we didn't use these ourselves, but instead played with each other or with new tennis friends on the rain-free days. There is a “card” per room that could be placed on a huge weekly board. Since there were a lot of tennis players in the hotel, the courts were always completely full in the morning and later in the afternoon, but we were actually able to book our desired lessons every day. The pitches were good and were prepared early in the morning every day.
Of course, the outdoor pools and the relatively fresh lake were great for the children. We went around the lake on the pedal boat almost every day. But there was also jogging around the lake on land, a great thing in the morning before breakfast followed by a swim in the lake! Our kids spent an hour or two playing table tennis or in the soccer hall. We also offer full-day childcare for smaller children up to 10 years of age - as far as we can tell from the outside, everything was very nicely done.
We parents enjoyed the outdoor saunas and relaxing in the lake wellness area . The absolute highlight were the infusions with Claudio , who created a real sauna event with music and dance choreography!
It was a bit of a shame that there was unfortunately no real relaxation area - the room partition to the family area was always open, so it wasn't really quiet.
A wonderful end to the day was dinner: 5 courses, whereby we were always allowed to choose the main course from three options the day before. Everything was very tasty, beautifully prepared and simply delicious. In the morning we always started the day perfectly fortified with a great breakfast buffet. In the afternoon, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., any small hunger could be satisfied at the afternoon buffet with salad and several warm dishes. And ice cream was still free on top. What's great for families is that the children and adults were able to help themselves to the water and juice bar free of charge throughout the day. That's the travel fund, of course? .
Unfortunately, we only had real summer weather for the first 3 days, where we were able to enjoy the sun on the wonderful lawn. The remaining days were mixed, very cool and rainy. That was a shame, but nobody can do anything about the weather. And we still had a nice vacation.
For tennis and sports fans like us, the Brennseehof is an absolute holiday paradise ; here you can relax and let anyone work out.
