At the beginning of the year, Jonas and his parents set off from Stuttgart to the Ruhr area. 4-day New Year's camp at the PMTR Tennis Academy in Mülheim an der Ruhr as the winner of our PMTR raffle And we also had overnight accommodation thanks to the B&B Hotel Mülheim an der Ruhr . A room had already been reserved for the family from the day before. Jonas' mom Ayleen sent us a detailed and, in our opinion, very informative travel report, which we don't want to withhold from you. The family conclusion also makes us happy: “Happy time out with a happy child!”
"New, beautiful hall with two different floor coverings. A small, lovingly furnished fair trade café with a menu is integrated. Here the kids get a balanced and very healthy meal during their lunch break. Spectators have it a little difficult because only first place is taken There is a floor-to-ceiling row of seats by the window in place 1 of 3, but the focus is on the kids being without parents during training.
The training is performance-oriented, even if no tournament players except Jonas were registered. It has a very professional character. The groups are small (3 kids per trainer). A lot of emphasis is placed on athletic training (outdoor/indoor, regardless of the weather). At the end of the day, you will run out, stretch, etc. (10 minutes). Personally, as a sports teacher, I think this is a bit too short, but the children are shown so many variations that I was very enthusiastic about it. Normal stretching, black role, rolling out your feet without shoes, etc. Many camps don't even have this in the program.
The administrative area is very good. An email after registration in advance containing a training manual for the children. This should be started 14 days before. A week after the camp, I was surprised by an email with very precise feedback about the child.

The only point of criticism:
My point of criticism on site is that the parents were not greeted individually or in groups. There is a lack of personal contact with the event organizer and/or the trainers. I would have liked a short introduction, a short personally presented overview of the process.
You want to know that the child is somehow in good hands. Which was definitely the case, but without a personal reference point to a person. The process is posted as a printout in the trainer's office, to which brief reference is made. The farewell was only discussed with the children, far away from the parents.
The only point of criticism:
there are no “normal” mattresses in the bunk beds, but rather a harder, sofa-like surface.
Anyone who is not used to sleeping on hard surfaces will find it very difficult.
Parents can let off steam in Oberhausen and Düsseldorf. With children after a long day, the harbor and the old town of Düsseldorf are ideal. Travel time approx. 30 minutes.
Also the large CENTRO shopping center in Oberhausen for eating, shopping, looking at the lights after Christmas and much more. Travel time 10 minutes.
For us, larger undertakings such as Sea Life or museums with children were no longer possible, as the camp of this length requires a break for relaxation.
Despite the rain and gloomy weather, a successful break with a happy child."
We would like to thank PMTR Tennis Academy and the B&B Hotel Mülheim an der Ruhr for making the New Year's camp raffle possible for us!
