Smooth final success over the top seeded Michael Geerts in Troisdorf - hosts, partners and sponsors are thrilled

“It was a great tournament week,” is how organizer Marc Raffel summarized it at the award ceremony for the TVM Open by TeReMeer 2021 on the occasion of the atmospheric award ceremony. The new TVM Open champion Elmar Ejupovic (Wolfsburg) definitely made a big contribution to this, winning 7:6 and 6:2 in a high-class final against the Belgian top favorite Michael Geerts.

After a rain interruption when the score was 6:6, the likeable Geerts could no longer find his way back into his game and made too many avoidable mistakes. Ejupovic continued his impressive performances from the tournament week and showed no weakness. His beautiful one-handed backhand and his tough service dominated the final. Uwe Maaß, busy president of the host TC RW-Troisdorf, as well as the many partners and sponsors of the TVM Open present were full of praise and were able to look back with pride on a very special tournament week with top tennis in the Middle Rhine Tennis Association in a wonderful ambience. “We are already looking forward to our small, 5-year TVM Open anniversary next year,” said Maaß.

Clear words to the German Tennis Association - Marc Raffel offers support 

Once again, the award ceremony of the TVM Open was another highlight. The 28-year-old champion Elmar Ejupovic directed clear words of criticism at the German Tennis Association. “There are far too few ITF World Tennis Tour tournaments in Germany, like this one in Troisdorf. The local tennis professionals therefore have to travel too much and, above all, too expensively.” And the honorary chairman of the Middle Rhine Tennis Association (TVM), who was also present, went one step further by noting that, despite the opportunities and resources, there is far too little support for young talent and tournaments at the DTB.

Organizer Marc Raffel - organizer of a total of three international tournaments in Germany - took the opportunity at the TVM Open to talk to Michael Kohlmann (Head of Men's Tennis in Germany and Davis Cup captain) on the sidelines of the matches in Troisdorf, an ATP - and ITF tournament concept for the 2022 summer season together. “I would be happy if my offer to talk met with open ears,” said Raffel.
