Today there's something from the "In Test" section . Because we don't just regularly win tennis rackets - we also test tennis rackets ourselves from time to time. And with great joy and as a former regional league player (hopefully) with sufficient expertise. I was particularly happy when I was able to test the DUNLOP FX500 , because I really liked this racket from the start. What I think is the perfect mix of power, control and comfort . By the way, our travel scout Marc was just as excited about this racket as I was! Find out more about my racket test and the DUNLOP FX 500 racket.
Technical data
- Weight: 300 g (uncovered)
- Swing weight: 314g
- Length: 27"
- Head size: 645 cm2
- Balance: 320 mm (unstrung)
- Stringing pattern: 16/19
- Frame width: 23-26-23
The technologies used in the racket are briefly explained
Power Boost
The Power Boost Nut incorporated into the eyelet system increases the sweet spot by increasing the string movement.
Flex Touch Resin
The one from KURARAYPLASTICS CO. LTD new material offers high elasticity and vibration-damping properties thanks to a high-performance thermoplastic elastomer mixture in the shaft.
Sonic Core with Infinergy
This highly elastic material dampens impact and frame vibrations by up to 37% - for a more comfortable impact and reduced risk of injury.
Power Grid
Power Grid String Tech creates a 30 percent larger sweet spot for evenly distributed power. This allows today's generation of players to hit the ball higher up on the racket.
My very personal racket review
I picked up the DUNLOP FX 500 and played a few shots and was immediately extremely impressed with the racket. And that solidified in the next training sessions. My game is quite straight, with a lot of power from the baseline. Since I already belong to the "senior class" at the age of 48, for me a racket needs not only power but also (more and more) comfort and a good degree of forgiveness.
- Sits extremely well in the hand
- It's easy to play from the first stroke.
- Has a lot of power, which means that a lot comes out of the racket during baseline rallies
- Quite forgiving thanks to the large sweet spot, even though the frame is quite hard (stiffness: 71).
I initially strung the racket with the DUNLOP NT Max Plus (1.25mm) with 25kg. Here I'm going to go up a good kilo to get even more control.
My conclusion:
For me, the DUNLOP FX50 is a perfect and completely balanced racquet that is ideal for my powerful baseline game.
In my opinion, it is ideal for technically good players who like to put their foot down on the pitch, but don't want to forego control and comfort.
