Today there's something from the "In Test" section . After I was able to test the DUNLOP FX 500 last fall and basically fell in love with this racket, I was more than excited to see how the new DUNLOP FX 500 , which has been available to buy since the beginning of 2023, would play. Visually it definitely cuts a better figure, as the racket comes in a fresh and almost bright blue. This impressed me straight away when I unpacked it! But since appearances are secondary even with a racket, the match with my son got down to business. And what can I say: the new DUNLOP FX 500 has gone a step further compared to its predecessor, which was already brilliant to play. And that in terms of speed and control. But it's best to read and see for yourself!
Although I'm a fan of stiff frames, what really impressed me about the new DUNLOP FX 500 was its slightly more flexible frame than its predecessor. This gives the racket even more comfort and an overall slightly “softer” playing feel . What's just as brilliant as the previous model: in my opinion, the racket is simply a perfect mix of power, spin and speed with a great deal of comfort.
The racket supports fast-paced, aggressive play. Thanks to its high level of comfort, powerful balls from the opponent can be easily parried - be it with at least as much counter pressure or with stable, spin-heavy shots from the defensive. Basically, the racket forgives hits outside the sweet spot quite well and doesn't punish you with a "racquet flutter".
I strung the racket with the DUNLOP Explosive Speed (1.3mm) with 25 kg. The round premium monofilament polyester string fits the racket really well and supports the properties of the racket for more speed and power.
The Power Boost Nut incorporated into the eyelet system increases the sweet spot by increasing the string movement.
The eyelet system in the 2023 racket has been revised again in order to be able to return even more energy to the string bed. A plus in spin!
The one from KURARAYPLASTICS CO. LTD new material offers high elasticity and vibration-damping properties thanks to a high-performance thermoplastic elastomer mixture in the shaft.
This highly elastic material dampens impact and frame vibrations by up to 37% - for a more comfortable impact and reduced risk of injury.
Power Grid String Tech creates a 30 percent larger sweet spot for evenly distributed power. This allows today's generation of players to hit the ball higher up on the racket.
For me, the new DUNLOP FX50 tops the playing characteristics of its predecessor and is a perfect and even more balanced racquet that is ideal for my powerful baseline game. A great racquet for all technically experienced (tournament) players who like to play aggressively but also play with a lot of comfort, feel and spin. An extremely successful racket all around. And the icing on the cake is the wonderful blue!
