Beating winners made easy - easier said than done!
Under sunny skies, we went to the courts in Naturns at 10 a.m. on day 4 - with coach Joe from the European Tennis Academy . Today there will be a very special entry in the camp diary - because today our Mia wrote the diary entry herself. Are you also excited to see what a day at camp looks like from a child’s perspective? Then read quickly!
Beating winners made easy - was the theme on day 4
After a few catching and throwing exercises, we started playing in the small field, where we had to pay attention to hitting the zero point and breathing through the ball. We played long balls and in the next exercise we had to play into the double corridor as a preliminary exercise for the long line ball. This was not so easy! After we played cross a few more rallies, our job was to continue playing cross, but when we thought it was the right time to play longline, we had to shout "YES" but still continue playing cross. At the end of the session we played points where we did a cross rally and then had to play the longline ball at the right time.
After a refreshment in the clubhouse, we continued at 1 p.m. In the afternoon we worked on short crossballs where we had to hit different target areas. The next exercise consisted of us having to play a certain length to the baseline and then - when we had the chance - play the short crossball that we had practiced before. At the end we made a few second serves and one of us had to attack the serve.
What have we learned today? Don't attack every ball pointlessly, but wait for your chance and then consistently play the WINNER! It's not that easy, but we're working on it!
