Junior tennis camp at the Alexander Waske Tennis University - an intensive, tailor-made training start
With the trunk full, we set off from Stuttgart at 8.30 a.m. towards Frankfurt - Neu Isenburg for the 4-day junior tennis camp at the Alexander Waske Tennis University . The first training session for our two tennis kids was supposed to start there at 1 p.m. We sped the 250 km north in a relaxed manner - surprisingly and happily, without any traffic jams. So we still had a good 1.5 hours at our destination, the Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt, which we spent in the chic spa lounge.
In good time we went to the 2-field air dome , where a quick rebound ace was installed.
First our eyes and ears had to get used to the light and the special “sound atmosphere” - but that happened quite quickly. What was interesting was the training of two tour professionals, which we were able to marvel at first - it was really getting down to business, there was a lot of banging!
Trainer Ivana inspires from the very first training session
Ivana, the trainer for the day, arrived at 12.45 p.m. and we started with an intensive 30-minute warm-up . Ivana quickly found a great connection with our two kids - a cool mix of "drill instructor" - in a positive sense with the motto of challenging and motivating - and buddy - very good! Our Mia was also happy to have a trainer at her side!
First, the forehand and backhand basic strokes practiced with closed and open leg positions: with medicine ball throws and a focus on a stable upper body during the stroke.
Ivana also videotaped both kids' basic strokes. Then rally training with target practice. And finally the first serves very easily. The first two-hour training session was over in no time and the kids relaxed in the chic hotel lobby.
Second training session with match-oriented training and varied fitness session
From 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. there was another training session in which the focus was on match-oriented training with serve returns and third ball
And immediately afterwards we went to the chic fitness room with athletic trainer Robert for 1 hour of fitness training . There were various exercises that focused on reaction ability, explosive strength and acceleration speed. Packed in a playful way, but with a lot of power. A few more stability exercises and then some stretching and the first day of training was over.
Then off to the hotel 7km away and finally something delicious to eat. And then a relaxing shower and then it will definitely be a very, very quiet night today.
Children's mouth reveals truth...
