Tiebreak challenge with Alex, technical tuning and ABCD rallies - that was the third day of the junior tennis camp at the Alexander Waske Tennis University
Yesterday's fitness session was tough again: strength training was on the agenda. First with small dumbbell weights, then on the versatile equipment in the Kempinski fitness room, the kids trained diligently and gave it their all again. This morning there was a lot of sore muscles. After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we headed to the Kempinski Hotel at 11 a.m. for the first two-hour training session as part of the junior tennis camp at the Alexander Waske Tennis University with junior coach Ivana.
After the play-in, the field was divided into different zones and the kids had to play in different zones for a limited time - really not as easy as it sounds. This requires tenacity, will, concentration, etc.!
Tiebreak challenge with Alexander Waske - cool sparring with the head coach
And suddenly Alexander Waske stood in the hall and challenged our two kids to the tiebreak challenge. A really cool story! Each of them played a tiebreaker against him - even though Alex won against both of them in the end (of course), the kids were the winners. A mandatory handshake photo is sure to be a great memory! Afterwards I was able to conduct a detailed interview with Alex about the Tennis University – soon online. Definitely worth it, not just for TennisTraveller , but especially for “tennis parents” – so much in advance!
Fine-tuning the forehand technique by Junior Head Coach André Stenger
After a short break in the hotel, the second tennis session continued in the afternoon. Unfortunately, our “big one” was quite ill with a cold, so our “little one” had training
Junior Head Coach André Steger He took care of the “forehand construction site” after the extreme grip change and was quickly able to identify some potential for improvement. Small tips with a really big impact – you could see that quickly! So a few consecutive forehand exercises were done and the one-hour training session was over.
Evening sweaty fitness session with circuit training
Yes, and while I'm writing the blog post here in the gym at the Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt, there's some really nice circuit training going on next door! Classic bodyweight exercises that train the body as a whole. So that the muscles are tense!
Now keep your fingers crossed that tomorrow the kids can start their last day here at the Alexander Waske Tennis University as a couple. It's unbelievable how the days have flown by so far!
Children's mouth reveals truth...
What was great?
"The tiebreak challenge against Alexander Waske was really great - even though I lost!"
"André's forehand tips were great - now I'll pay more attention to my index finger, because that really helps!"
What wasn't so great?
"That I couldn't train at lunchtime."

And as always, a few pictures of the day at the end...
