Final training extreme in the junior tennis camp at the Alexander Waske Tennis University - mobilize the last reserves of strength again!
Unfortunately we still had one patient today - the “big one” is still ailing, so I gave her a break from training today. Since the whole thing had already become apparent yesterday, the training plan for day 4 at the Alexander Waske Tennis University was quickly changed . André Stenger, head coach of the juniors, quickly rescheduled the training so that our “little one” had an extra-long session totaling 2.5 hours. Really great, because a trainer at the TU was also unavailable due to illness! By the way, such long units are regularly completed here - after all, long matches sometimes cover this distance.
Relaxed chill and office morning in the hotel before the start of training
Since the training didn't start until 1 p.m., we had a comfortable time in the hotel. Sleep in, have a hearty breakfast, chill out a bit and then check out. Overall, our stay at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen great: a quick 10-minute walk to the tennis hall, a large and quiet triple room, a large parking garage and delicious food, which we had room service deliver to us twice in the evening - everything was easy broken to go to the restaurant.
2.5 hours of individual training with all the trimmings - that was really tough!
Independent warm-up in the hall, which was very warm today - then André came and things started straight away at full speed. Even though his legs were really heavy today, our little one fought through the exercises very bravely. The forehand problem that was discovered yesterday due to the extreme change in grip was addressed with very different exercises and drills. Shorter backswing, slightly spread index finger and more spin – those were the three main points.
And of course you didn't miss out on the rest of your shots: backhand, flying ball, smash ball, serve and return. And finally a little match. First against a child who was training on the next pitch and finally with André, the coach. When the last reserves were mobilized, a very passable match came about!
Completely knocked out and totally satisfied – that’s how our youngest left the field. Very intensive unit with all the trimmings!
The packed TennisTraveller car was already at the hotel door, so we could head home straight away. And thanks to the holiday in Baden-Württemberg, we were home in no time. For today it's time to put your feet up and recover. And tomorrow the kids will take it easy and just leave the tennis racket in the corner! After such intense days, that just has to happen!
Children's mouth reveals truth...
What was great?
"My feeling with the forehand is really better with André's tips."
"Now that we're back home - I'm looking forward to my bed!"
What wasn't so great?
"That I couldn't train again today."
"That I lost the last tiebreak against André - but somehow I was completely exhausted!"
